Sign the Statement
Your signature is very important because it will help build momentum to reform sex offender laws, reforms that are desperately needed. We seek the signatures of concerned citizens everywhere since we think this issue impacts the rights of everyone. Signatories agree that their full names, occupation, and connection to this issue (parent, professional, friend) will be listed publicly here on this website, and can be used in other publications as evidence that there is a strong voice for reform.
The information we request from all our signatories is needed to confirm that they are real people, with real connections to actual communities and professions. For that reason we will verify the identity of every signatory to ensure the statement is not signed pseudonymously.
Do you agree with the Reform Sex Offender Laws Now! statement, but find that actually signing the document is a little scary? We believe that this fear is itself all the more reason to sign because it indicates how bad things have gotten. But if you don't want to sign publicly, that's absolutely fine. We hope you will still become a non-public signatory.
In addition, we made a conscious decision not to publicly include signatures of those convicted of sexual offenses. The bitter irony of excluding those we seek to include in society is not lost on us, and we made this decision regretfully. However, we feel we must focus on building critical awareness among the wider community.
All persons who agree with the spirit of the RSOL Statement but cannot sign publicly are welcome to become non-public Signatories. Both public and non-public Signatories can participate fully in all RSOL projects and activities.
